2016 Mazda MX-5 to Use Non-Turbo Engine

Saffran Use Car
When the new 2016 Mazda MX-5 Miata was rolled out last week, the design was the only real information divulged on the all-new sports car. Now, a photo has turned up over on Jalopnik, showing off one of the engines that will power the car, and it is not turbocharged. Tons of rumors have been floating around that a new 1.3-liter turbo would pop up in the new 2016 Miata, but the engine in the photo is not it. Now, this does not definitively mean there won't be a turbo engine, as the possibility of there being two different engine offerings still remains. The naturally aspirated motor would be offered on the base car, while a higher trim level may still use turbocharged power. The only other info gleaned from the picture is the SkyActiv badge on the motor, though it has always been known that the 2016 MX-5 would use the company's new suite of technologies to make the car lighter and more efficient.
